Represenation and Space: Slide Show and notes.

Representation: is simply when an object is signified by another object. Within games itself, the representation of objects is to add to the quality of the game play or to develop plot. An object in reality such as a gun, is NOT a gun in the game, it's just a representation. However, through that likeness brings quality and realism in which the player can relate to. Representation can also mean other important elements within a game, such as referencing culture, religion or politics.

Space: is the relationship between objects or elements in the world. Space itself is used to determine all sorts of aspects, such as distance, speed, mass and velocity etc. Within games space can be used for many things, such as defining surroundings into open areas and enclosed, or even how an object or structure is represented through space. Within using space creatively, objects or scenes can become more dynamic which can enhance the game play.

Creativity: is a skill that enables one to produce new, innovative or 'unique' designs. Within the industry, creativity is the most crucial element when making new and exciting games. If the industry kept making similar games, there would be no interest in them and gamers would gradually become bored. So to keep industry fresh, they need to make sure the creativity within the games is new and compelling.

Culture: is mainly known to be the different ways that people living in other parts of the world represent their experiences and act upon them uniquely. For example cultures can change due to different beliefs or religions etc. Another form of culture is a group or organization that has attitudes and conducts practices towards interests. For example, Gaming is a culture as it is a mass collection of people who follow the same sort of practice and has similar attitudes towards the interest.

Technology: is the skills or understanding of systems, crafts or tools used within an organization or group. Technology is used ideally used to serve a purpose, whether it's problem solving or for profits. It is also used to enhance the human way of life and provide us with efficiency, such as for medical or information technology. Within games, technology is maintained through computer systems which are used to produce engines, high tech software and better audio/visual quality. As our technological skills and systems improve in the future, the industry can use them to it's advantage to make better and more innovative games. For example, motion sensors, 3D cameras, touch screens and better graphics etc. The more advanced the technology, the more potential a game can have.
